July has certainly been a hot month with temperatures hovering around 30C. Factor in humidity and it’s steamy. Everywhere I go, I hear people complaining. I can understand if you have to work outside in it, like my older son, or if you have health concerns. Personally, I love summer. I love the feeling of freedom from routines. I love the freedom from confining winter wear. I love walking outside and feeling warm. No snow to shovel. No icy puddles to tromp through. Plenty of sunshine. I’m good!
Summer afternoon, summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language. – Henry James
Summer or winter – I love tea too! Hot or cold. It’s not hard to make your own with black tea and most herbal or flavoured teas taste great chilled. Especially on steamy days.
Saturday, the temperature peaked around 33C. After some light gardening, I curled up in my chair in the shade with a good book and a glass of Berry Basket Iced Tea from Harry & David and The Republic of Tea. My Mom gave me this tin after her trip to Myrtle Beach in the Spring. In addition to black tea, it contains blackberry, raspberry, strawberry and blueberry pieces.
While this tin contains 7 tea sachets for steeping a quart of tea, I wanted to try my new tea press so I opened the bag and only used a portion to make the tea. [Super easy instructional video]. I was not disappointed. This iced tea was light and refreshing with a a slight flowery note and a strong berry taste. Yum!
It didn’t take long to cool off and get sleepy, so I had a nap! Right there in my chair!
Taking Naps sounds so childish. I prefer to call them horizontal life pauses. – Author Unknown
It’s stormy today and a
nap horizontal life pause sounds like a good idea! Why don’t you join me, and then, a cup of tea?
