Fall is filled with colour, but my favourite colour is red.

We found the way out
The city takes everything it can
But outside the crowds
I can feel my lungs again

Born for the blue skies
We’ll survive the rain
Born for the sunrise
We’ll survive the pain

Last Christmas, I got restless. I wanted to try something new & who knows? Maybe start my own business? Yeah right!

While there’s no business in sight, I certainly enjoyed my “geeky” creativity through the year, and turned my traditional Christmas tree into a “Geek Tree”! I’ve frittered many happy hours crafting ornaments from video games (Mario, Starcraft, Portal & Overwatch), anime (RWBY)…and a few others that I can’t share because they’re Christmas gifts. Game of Thrones, Star Wars & Star Trek are in the works. Of course, I’ve ventured into animals, tea & coffee too! Everything is hand-stitched – not a drop of glue in sight!

Starcraft (640x427)
Portal-RWBY-Mario (640x427)
Overwatch 2 (640x427)

And the finished project is…well a little sad. But I have another year to remedy that!

It’s hard to believe that only 2 weeks ago, the air was crisp and the trees were in full display. Today was our second snow storm and the cold is settling in. I’m not impressed!

Friday may have been Fall’s swan song. It was sunny and warm…and since there was no power at work, I got to work from home.

Every year, I drive by a street lined with beautiful red maple trees, and every year I think, I must drive by with my camera some time. And I never do.

But since I was driving by on my way home, and feeling like a kid who just escaped sitting in a boring  classroom all day, I seized the moment (along with my dying cell phone).

After I took my photo of the maple trees, much to my delight, I discovered not only a man-made lake, but one boasting a white swan. Swan on Redstone_ed_cc

Our house, was our castle and our keep
Our house, in the middle of our street*

Our Street

Our house is located by the second tree, on the left. It’s hardly a castle, but it is home. All the trees on our street looked beautiful last Thursday afternoon, but our first winter storm wreaked havoc on the leaves through the night. It made raking leaves on Saturday a rather interesting job! I quit after filling 4 bags of leaves…all from what fell on the driveway…because my fingers were frozen. Even with mittens on. I wonder how many bags it will take to finish the job?
