Winter is for the birds.
Especially this big fellow who “dined” in our backyard two weeks ago, during a snowstorm. When I first noticed him from the dining room window, I thought “that’s a big robin”! I’m not that dumb but we live in the city and rarely see large birds. Especially in the back yard!
I don’t even want to think about what, or rather, who, was his “snack”. I’m keeping my eyes open for the Little Reds!
The wild hawk stood with the down on his beak and stared with his foot on the prey.

Whether you are spending the weekend indoors or outdoors, may your cup always be filled with warmth, and your heart overflowing with love.
This is my post for Cee Nuener’s Black & White Photo Challenge: Hot or Cold Things. (I just decided, why not both!)

inThis week, the highly-anticipated mini kitchen renovation began this week. I said “adieu” to the 1980’s faux butcher block countertop and “welcome” to a simple charcoal gray countertop. The “vintage” tiles from 1969 are gone and framing done in preparation for electrical work this week. I’m so excited!
I was also excited to see that Cee Neuner’s black & white photo challenge this week is Things Found in the Kitchen.
Baking is love made edible. -Unknown
Even though we’re in the midst of renovations, meals still need to be prepared, and I’m scheduled to provide snacks for a ladies’ event on Wednesday, so I’m sneaking in some baking whenever I can!
This afternoon I baked cranberry streusel muffins and orange jack-o-lantern sugar cookies. Of course, I have to enjoy a cup of tea while I’m waiting.

inIf you don’t think shoes are important, just ask Dorothy or Cinderella.
OK, the challenge wasn’t specifically “Cinderella Shoes” but what girl could resist pulling out her wedding dress (which still fits 23 years later – thank goodness!! ) and some sparkly shoes.
Chocolate is good, but shoes are sugar-free!
If I were to get married again (which I have no plans to ever do again), would I stick with white, or would I dare to be different? Judging on how much I’ve changed since I started my mid-life crisis, I think the answer is “yes”! Maybe…red?
Forget the prince…keep the shoes!
