With winter upon us, our fence, the usual highway and place to perch for a scenic view, for our local red squirrel, gets loaded. So I’ve noticed him (or her) snacking on the porch railing instead. Maybe he’s trying to make time with my little pony. Even though I’m quite certain he’s the cheeky fellow who ate my chocolate treats and my chair cushion…and stole my underwear, he’s still cute.
The red squirrel is more common and less dignified than the gray, and oftener guilty of petty larceny about the barns and grain-fields. – John Burroughs
