Georges Bizet’s 2nd Menuet de L’Arlesienne was my Grade 12 final music exam. It was also the piece I played at a Music Festival. Even though it was several years ago, I can still play it my head – every note, every expressive phrase, every graceful run. Even my shoulders instinctively tense up at the top of runs where I had to play very high notes pianississimo (something that required hours of practice).
