Dear “Random Act of Coffee” lady:
I wrote about the Random Acts of Coffee across Canada in the summer of 2013, I never imagined that I be the recipient of the same kind of blessings. How could you have known that I was feeling very stressed out yesterday by an ongoing situation, and so I put off getting groceries until the afternoon? That after making two trips into the grocery store (because as I was leaving I realized I had forgotten margarine, thereby unwittingly putting my life in danger as I trod through the icy parking lot)? Or that I would fight the urge to use the Tim Horton’s drive-thru and instead walk the 20 feet in the frigid cold to Tim Horton’s for a steaming cup of steeped tea? You couldn’t have known, nor will you likely ever know what a blessing your generosity was to me. It put a smile on my face and I sang with James Brown with meaning – “I Feel Good”!
Thank you for the reminder of how good it feels to look beyond my own little world to brighten someone else’s day. We may never know what’s happening in the life of those around us. They may be struggling with stress, loneliness, illness or loss. We are all dealing with deadlines to meet, bills to pay, and that one irritating relative that we have to tolerate because they’re “family”…
I’ll sip to that! Cheers.
