“A light wind swept over the corn, and all nature laughed in the sunshine.” -Anne Bronte
The definition: fray (verb) – the unravelling or wearing of the edge of fabric, rope, or cord; to wear thin or through; showing the effects of strain on a person’s temperament.
The Challenge: Share a photo of what “fray” means to you — it could be a tear in a favorite pair of jeans, a street rumble just about to begin, or a friend diving into an oncoming wave at the beach.

I latched on to “corn” instead of fray in your challenge today. Why? I spent lots of time in corn fields growing up and I never wore jeans, frayed or not, until in my mid-20s. This post gave me the idea of doing a post on corn when the season rolls around next year.
Thanks for the quote – today I’m featuring lots of un-corny quotes on my blog.
We’re in the height of corn season and I used to love it. Now corn doesn’t love me…but I don’t mind fixing it for my guys! This corn was dropped off at the church by a local a farmer – what a tasty gift! Looking forward to hearing about cavorting in the cornfield! 🙂
When I think of “fray” I think of the raucous, noisy middle of the soccer game my girls are in. At any point. So much goes on where the ball is … that’s definitely the fray.
Funny, when I thought of Fray, my mind went to sports (soccer in particular). I always did my best to avoid “the fray” in gym…we just had 2 days when Little Guy came home from Intro. to Soccer Camp in tears, so I had to avoid soccer fields with my camera last week! 😦
I will never forget this – the day Grace scored her first goal, she was in tears in the same game. I remember her sitting on the bench with big tears in her eyes, and little did I know that she was having probably the first watershed moment of her young life.
Maybe Little Guy will have one soon, too.
This does bring to mind the word and in a very creative way!
