“Take a course in good water and air; and in the eternal youth of Nature you may renew your own. Go quietly, alone; no harm will befall you.” –John Muir
It was much cooler on Sunday, and there were still dark clouds that would roll through, but every now and then the sun would peek out and bathe nature in golden light. I was determined to try and capture the beauty of this season. So my Dad, my two boys and I headed out after lunch (and dishes), armed with 2 cameras and high hopes.
First we went to the waterfall in town and Dad took some pictures…
I have never seen the water so low. We walked out onto the river bed and took some great family photos (well, except the one of me – I must have been talking because my face is all squinched up – family habit!). Big Guy took some time to teach Little Guy how to skip stones.
I took a couple of pictures from a small bridge before we headed to the woods.
It hasn’t been lost on any of us – this is our first Thanksgiving without my Grandfather. He loved family gatherings, playing with the children, and all the good food (especially the pies)! It was wonderful just to have that quiet time with some of the important men in my life, and to reflect on God’s goodness.
