“The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it”.  ~Attributed to both Jim Goodwin and Sydney J. Harris.  I don’t know these guys, but I like the way they think! March Break is almost here. Post-March break means the beginning of a very busy Spring for me, and I have so many things to do…so I’m running away from home.

I often “run away” to my parents’ place. They live on the edge of the small town where I grew up, and we’ve nicknamed their house “the cottage”. It’s only a 2 ½ hour car ride and I think my car knows the way. And there’s a certain Tim Horton’s half way there for a pit stop. Little Guy tells me they make “the best gingerbread cookies”! I will visit my grandparents, I will probably work on cards or scrapbook, and I will definitely drink too much tea and watch long hours of HGTV! My poor father has learned that Friday night, in particular, is not a good night to plan on watching anything other than “Say Yes to the Dress” on TLC. Actually, he often joins us and has, on occasion, recorded it for me when he knew I was coming down. Dads are great!

Little Guy loves visiting Nanny & Papa. We get ice cream at McDonald’s, watch the Disney channel, and play with all their “cool stuff”. In the summer, he plays in the sandbox or swims in the pool. Mom and I work so well together, that we both feel like we’re on vacation. I try to help with meals and laundry, but overall, “I’m home” and I don’t have the same responsibilities that I have in my own home.

Hubby, on the other hand, quite enjoys having the house all to himself. He can sleep in, eat in front of the TV, and spend hours on the computer if he feels like it. He eats out or cooks things that I don’t – like fish and shellfish (I’m allergic to it). When I get home, I’m more rested, and he’s happy to have voices in the house again.

We will return before next weekend so we can spend some time with Hubby! I’m packing my “painting t-shirt” so I can help my parents with fixing up and packing up my grandparents house. I’m also packing my laptop, but whether I write or not, will just depend on how the week goes. But for now, I’m really looking forward to running away. Bon Voyage!
